Desulphurization essential step for upgrading biogas to natural gas quality
The German WELtec BioPower GmbH specialises in the production of biogas plants using stainless steel fermentation tanks. The WELtec biogas park in Könnern produces 14.2 million m3 of biomethane per year.
Two THIOPAQ® installations remove the hydrogen sulphide from the biogas. Each reactor is designed to treat 1,700 m3 biogas, removing 100 kg of sulphur each day. The desulphurized biogas is treated further. It is upgraded to natural gas quality and fed into a high-pressure gas net, providing energy for 10,000 households.
