Video: Case Aviko

Aviko, a potato processing company in the east of Holland, is getting more money out of its potatoes by generating biogas from its wastewater. The biogas is used to power the plant, decreasing the consumption of energy. In addition, out of the remainder of the waste water, the company harvests valuable phosphates. Phosphates are increasingly scarce, and are necessary to make artificial fertilizer.
Our colleague Tim Huelsen explains the process.
